A World of Music at Your Fingertips
Genre: RnB Music -- "MOTOWN KICKDOWN"
"You Gone Make Me Cheat Nellie (Tiger) Travis," by Eddie Caldwell
By  Barbie Coleman  |   Tuesday 2019-04-09
Today we honor Berry Gordy, Jr. and his original "Motown Records," which got its start in 1959 in Detroit, popularly called the "Motor Town," signifying the importance of the "Motown" label and its important roots in that creative, hustling city (shown above).  The "Motown Sound" combined Soul sounds with Pop music influences, achieving a huge crossover success during the 1960s at a time when America was struggling with achieving racial integration for all its citizens.

Motown Records changed hands several times and today is owned by Universal Music Group. But back in the 60s, as an African-American label owner, Mr. Gordy achieved such success that he had 79 Motown songs in Billboard's Top 10 hits and had a net worth of over $60 million, which was pretty ASTOUNDING for any American label at that time!

And today we hope you'll kick back and enjoy our laid-back 1960's-inspired "MOTOWN KICKDOWN" station with hours of a perfectly chilled vibe:

"Need a Motown Sound fix? Check our soulful tribute to legendary stars like Marvin, Stevie, Diana, Gladys Knight, and other classic RnB icons. A big blast from the past, these lively 60s and 70's club-bangers and slow-jam ballads will jazz up laid-back cafés, retro shops, and other nostalgic venues."

And our Chicago composer, producer Eddie Caldwell brings us another hit track in his "Gone Make Me Cheat Nellie (Tiger) Travis," with a cool female vocal track that would work for commercials, documentaries, and urban films. A bit of RnB combined with Blues and Southern Soul, we're grooving on Nellie's words of advice to her man. And it seems like these lyrics resonate with today's contemporary tales of lovers whose romance has gone awry!

While our "MOTOWN KICKDOWN" is spot-on for that era, we also have 15 similar RnB stations like "Divas," "Decades of Dance," "Retail Hot Mix," and our newest playlist, "Funk Reserve," to fill your venue with music for almost any product you're selling -- and these stations are fun, too, for shopping, dining, or busy grocery stores, convenience stores, and food courts.  These are the fun sounds that will bring smiles to your customers 24/7.

And if you fell in love with 60's artists like Mavis Staples, Gladys Knight, Stevie Wonder, "Smokey" Robinson, and other icons who inspired our artists and singers, you'll love our "MOTOWN KICKDOWN" music.  Sign up on our RadioSparx homepage to enjoy a 14-Day Free Trial, or better yet, register for an annual subscription to keep these super-cool sounds flowing.
