Activating the RS-PLAY Software on Android
Quick Start Instructions


To get the RS-PLAY app up and playing music quickly, follow these steps below.


Prerequisites


The following are the prerequisites for this article:
 

  • Active RadioSparx Account - You must have an active account at the RadioSparx website to play music on the RS-PLAY software app. 
    Your account must be activated either as Free Trial account (which happens by default when you first sign-up), or with a paid subscription.
    You can sign-up on the website homepage, or talk to a sales associate for assistance.


Install and Run the Software

To run the RS-PLAY software software on Android, do the following: 

  • Download the Software - The RS-PLAY software can be downloaded from the Google Play store, or directly from the RadioSparx website.

    ► RadioSparx Download - To download from RadioSparx, surf in a browser on your Android device to https://www.radiosparx.com/rs-play.htm.  
    Click on the first link there to download the latest RS-PLAY software to your Android device.  Your device should present an option to you to
    install the RS-PLAY.apk file, accept this, and the software should fully install itself.  Accept the various prompts to allow miscellaneous system
    access by the software, so that it will function properly. 

    ► Google Play Store Download - To download from Google Play, on your Android device open the Play Store app.  Search for "RS-PLAY"
    (make sure to include the dash ( - ) between RS and PLAY) and then you'll see the app's icon.  Click on this app and select the option to
    install it. Accept any prompt to allow miscellaneous system access by the software, so that it will function properly. The software will download
    and install and then give you an option to run it.

  • After installation completes, then run the app.  Once the RS-PLAY main screen appears like this:





Configure Player Settings

You must configure the player settings for the software to be able to connect to your RadioSparx account, automatically log in, and commence
playing the music.  

For RS-PLAY, do the following:

  • Click on the three dots in the upper-right corner of the software app's user interface.  The Settings screen appears:




Then surf to the RadioSparx website, click on the Account option at the top right and then go into the Player Settings option.

Or, if you're setting this up for a user under a multi-user account, go into Account, then Users, and then into Player Settings for the affected user. 

Then perform these steps:

  • Step 1 -  External Player Type - Change the Player Type field to "R-Box Pearl (Hardware or Software) or RS-PLAY".
  • Step 2 -  Device ID - Enter the Device ID from the Player Settings screen into the corresponding field in the RS-PLAY settings screen.
  • Step 3 -  Security Token - Enter the Security Token from the Player Settings screen into the corresponding settings field in RS-PLAY settings screen.

  • Step 4 -  Sign In - Click on the SIGN IN button and your info will be authenticated and service commenced.

On the RadioSparx website, make sure to save the Player Settings screen changes by clicking the "Save Changes" button in the upper right corner.



Test Playback

Click on the PLAY button from the main screen of the RS-PLAY software and the Pop Vocal station should commence playing immediately in streaming mode.  Or click the Genre button to the left of the play button and select a genre (i.e. one of our broad music categories of common music styles, such as Pop, Dance, Jazz, etc.):





And then after selecting a genre, such as Pop Music for example, then you see the Pop Music stations available under that:
