Q. What is the monthly bandwidth usage of R-Box app in store-and-forward (SAF) mode?

A. For SAF-mode operation, there is not a fixed bandwidth usage amount.  The actual usage is affected by the complexity of the Custom Schedule that is playing, as well as the storage capacity of the hardware.  Different hardware can have different amounts of on-board storage capacity.  Hence, the answer all depends on the complexity of the events that are scheduled to play, and how much storage is available on the computer that is running the R-Box Pearl software.

The R-Box Pearl hardware device sold by RadioSparx has 8GB of total RAM, about 5.5GB of which can be used to store tracks.  So, if your configured schedule includes only roughly 1000 to 1200 tracks or so max, then they will all download only one time and be stored on the R-Box and there will be no more downloads during the month.

On the other hand, if the schedule is more complex with thousands of tracks represented by the configured events, they can’t all fit on the available storage of the R-Box at one time, so the R-Box software will have to intermittently delete cached tracks to make room for new tracks, and new downloads will occurr during the month.

Because of these various considerations, it’s difficult to predict the total monthly bandwidth usage in advance.
