World | Creole Hip Hop
Creole Hip Hop is a sign of evolution in the Haitian community expressed in many ways but primarily through lyrics in the native Creole language. Creole Hip Hop began in Haiti in 1982 by Master DJI with his song "Vakans". The Haitian-American experience is now expressed in the Creole Hip Hop movement because the very foundation of its expressed lyrical style began in America. As Creole Hip Hop has grown, it has begun to change the perception of Creole-speaking people everywhere. It is not the music that is the sole force of Creole Hip hop, rather, it is the spirit of change for prosperity plus social forces that transform the Creole language into the Creole Hip Hop movement.
