Dance-Pop

Complete with pounding, dance club upbeats and catchy melodies, the songs of this music are fully formed and more influenced by pop song structure than pure dance music. Some notable commercially successful dance-pop musicians include Britney Spears, Madonna, Paula Abdul, Janet Jackson, Jody Watley, Christina Aguilera, Spice Girls, and more recently Ke$ha, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga who have all been very influential in the resurgence of dance-pop in the late 2000s and early 2010s. Dance-pop has often been the music of boy bands and girl groups (e.g. Mel & Kim).
