Goema [pronounce: "gooma"] music from the Bo Kaap, Cape Town, South Africa, as played today, still in its traditional format with voices, percussion, bass, banjo and guitar. The songs ("goema liedjies") have their origins in the early days of the cape; they are very much community music, full of social comment, humour and double entendre.
