The Goat that Made the Stars Sing
A long time ago before you were born
Stars use to sing from evening till morn
A little goat with horns that reached to the sky
Would tickle the starlight till they giggled and sighed.
One day a man who was down in the dumps
Passed by the goat who thought, “There goes a grump.”
“(mumble mumble mumble)”, the man muttered
“What’s the matter, what’s up, spill the beans” the goat uttered.
“I’ve lost my cool box that I hold so dear.
I’ll never replace it. It’s gone I do fear.”
The goat thought and thought then said with a smile
“I’ve got an idea though it may take a while.”
“Just give me some time to lower my head
Then take some of my horn,” the eager goat said.
“You can make a new box from the tip of my horn
And then you won’t be so sad and forlorn.”
The man made a new box for the whole town to see
They thought it was awesome, cool as can be
His box was lovely, so pretty, so nice.
They all had to have one no matter the price.
In search of the goat, they all charged out of town.
“I don’t like this idea” one little girl frowned.
But nobody listened; they all got in line
One piece of the horn for each person was fine.
The goat lowered its head for each person to grab
A piece of the horn then things got real bad!
When each piece was given, the horns grew so small
Till finally there were no horns left at all.
No matter how that small goat tried and tried
It couldn’t reach the stars and everyone cried
“We thought one person would not change a thing
But now there no horns to make the stars sing.”
Those town folk all sighed, “We’ve made a mistake.
The girl was right it CAN make a difference in the choices we make.”
