Ragtime

Ragtime is music characterized by strong syncopation in the melody with a regularly accented accompaniment. Ragtime was one of the first jazz styles to develop, and its role and range of styles has been obscured by the passage of time. Ragtime is jazz music, and was the popular music of the early 20th century.
