Change the Picture
By: Linq
No one is born a racist or a bully, we learn those things from others, and we can unlearn them too. By examining the sources of hatred we gain the tools to make positive change. This track was a finalist in the Political Song category in the 2009 Just Plain Folks Music Awards.

Linq is an edgy, emotional, often political singer/songwriter. A serendipitous series of events propelled her out of a career as a pharmacist and pharmacy owner onto an exciting musical path. Her songs are a unique blend of folk and rock, with an occasional touch of blues, funk, and even techno. Using life's tough experiences, Linq is not afraid to tackle controversial issues, and brings a strong, reasoned voice to whatever topic she addresses, including war, racism, homophobia, health care, and the environment.

Witnesses reported hearing them yell both racial and homophobic slurs during the attack. It brought to mind the earlier beating and subsequent death of gay college student Matthew Shepard, who was left to die hanging from a fence by the two young men who had beaten him.
